For the month of October, the ACA Business Club in Columbia Missouri is hosting a solo exhibit of several pieces from my "Dralas" series. This show is sponsored by Virginia Steiger with Prost Builders and D.W. Cole with Cole Properties Realty. This show marks stop-gap projects two-year anniversary and we look forward to celebrating with our community.

"November 2nd - Los Angeles" series includes 10 images shot on color slide film in Los Angeles during an All Souls Day festival. This photography postcard collection is released as a limited edition run of 10 sets. 3 out of 10 editions will be available at the stop-gap projects Art Market 12/1/23 - 12/2/23.
"January 1st - Lancaster, California (pinhole)" images from a series shot on color 35mm film roll in the open deserted landscape at the edges of Lancaster through a paper, pinhole camera. A pair of prints will be available at the stop-gap projects Art Market 12/1/23 - 12/2/23.

You're invited to join artist, Emily Koonse on the final day of the exhibit of her recent photo work on display at Como Arepas (inside Aroma Coffee House) in Columbia Missouri on Saturday, September 9, from 3-6pm.

All are welcome to visit the space, chat with the artist, and enjoy yummy Venezuelan food and delightful coffee drinks!

The collection of prints on exhibit is entitled “OFFERING” and includes still life studies gathered from nature and captured in an intimate and minimalist approach.

Prints on display are available for purchase in-person.

Excited to share that my online print shop is live! And I am pleased to present my newest print work: “November 2nd - Los Angeles” as a postcard set.

These images have been on a journey. The roll of color slide film traveled with me to England and France for a solo art and culture trip. And while I didn't shoot the film there it got a little fogged by going through the airport x-ray (accidentally!). I finally shot the film back in 2014 and had the slides developed and processed in Orange County. (Yay The Darkroom Lab!) I had the slides scanned there. I recently edited the images and I found a great printer to make the postcards here in Columbia Missouri. I'm so happy with the results and loving that they're on the world wide web now.

I'm excited to share that filmmaker Tom Paige has just secured the REDCAT Theater in Los Angeles for a new recording session to be led by Jesse Sharps, our long-time collaborator on The Gathering: Roots & Branches of Los Angeles Jazz film and music project. This session will take place June 5, 2022 and will also commemorate the 60th Anniversary of the Pan Afrikan Peoples Arkestra, featuring musicians from the 1960's & 70's as well as new artists from the community.

The session will feature an important composition of Horace Tapscott’s called “The Ghetto Suite" and will be a historic music event captured as both audio & video recordings.  We are in progress pre-producing the event, fundraising to support the musicians, the crew, recording and filming of the event. Tom and I will be on hand to interview the musicians to continue documenting this important history.

Director Thomas Paige, Co-Producer/Editor Emily Koonse, and Executive Producer/Bandleader Jesse Sharps will be on hand at select screenings.

About The Film:
The Gathering: Roots & Branches of Los Angeles Jazz chronicles a multi-generational music project started in 2005 by Jesse Sharps, one of the bandleaders of Horace Tapscott's Pan Afrikan Peoples Arkestra. The film features a stellar cast of players, including some of the hottest emerging talents from the area, and focuses on the Leimert Park district and progressive jazz scene of Los Angeles, covering the history of the music, and the long tradition of community elders guiding the young up and coming players on the scene. It features some extraordinary performances by local legends Azar Lawrence, Dwight Trible, Kamau Daáood, Michael Session, Ndugu Chancler, and Phil Ranelin along with rising stars Brandon Coleman, Kamasi Washington, Miguel Atwood-Ferguson, and Randal Fisher.

The film had its world premiere in July 2019 at the Maine International Film Festival as an Official Selection with a gala night showcasing a live performance from bandleader Jesse Sharps, Bobby West, and Peter Jacobson.
